PBL: What is the effect on science process skills?

Abstract

Science process skills as basic competencies to develop creative, critical, open, innovative, and competitive for competition in the globalized world in the community. Problem based learning (PBL) as a model of learning that make students actively seek and find. This study to describe the effect of PBL on science process skills. This research is a research quasi experimental with pretest- postest control group design. The population in this research 223 elementary school students. The sample was collected using the cluster random sampling technique. Data process skills obtained from the tests and observation. The data were analyzed by t-test. The result of this research informs that PBL improved positively and significantly the science process skills of elementary students. Science process skills of students in the class of experiment 1 and experiment 2 higher than students in the class of the control. PBL can be one alternative learning models that can be used by teachers
