The attitude of senior high school teachers on mathematical problem solving

Abstract

Teacher attitudes toward mathematical problem solving and learning are very influential on the teaching practice of teachers in teaching problem-solving in the classroom. There have been many research expert who focus the research on the attitude of teachers toward mathematics, but they rarely sees how the attitude of teachers toward mathematical problems solving and the process of learning for problem solving. In this research will answer this two problems. The research type is qualitative with survey method. Three mathematics teachers from three different schools were selected as research subjects. Teaching videos of each teacher, questionnaires, and interviews with open questions were used as instruments to see the attitude. Each teachers were given a questionnaire that is related to how the attitude of teachers toward mathematical problem solving and learning process on mathematical problem solving. After that the teacher Also was interviewed. Based on the research process, it can be concluded there are three categories of teacher attitude level toward mathematical problem solving and learning process about mathematical problem solving: good, very good, and excellent level.
